Felwood Herb Farming Route: Dreamfoil, Gromsblood and Plaguebloom (48–55)
A felwood herb farming loop for 48–55: Dreamfoil and Gromsblood along the western ruins, Plaguebloom by the Timbermaw tunnel, Felcloth from Jadefire satyrs.
Felwood is where an Artisan herbalist starts earning raid money. The long, sickly valley north of Ashenvale grows the three herbs every alchemist wants at level 60: Dreamfoil along the road, Gromsblood wherever demons have scorched the ground, and Plaguebloom on the colder slopes in the north. Between the nodes roam corrupted Angerclaw bears and Felpaw wolves that skin into high-level leather, and the Jadefire satyrs camped in the ruins drop Felcloth on top. This felwood herb farming route is a clockwise loop for levels 48 to 55 on vanilla-era realms such as WoW Forever: it starts at the sanctuary in the south, works the satyr ruins and the crater rim on the western side, touches the Timbermaw tunnel at the top of the zone, and comes back down the eastern side of the road with full bags.
Where and what you need
Felwood is a contested zone for levels 48 to 55, entered by the road north out of Ashenvale. The south around Emerald Sanctuary is the gentlest part at 48 to 50, the western ruins and the river are 50 to 53, and the north, from the craters up to the Timbermaw tunnel, runs 52 to 55. The infernals in the central craters are elite and stay off the route, and so does Jaedenar, the demon stronghold in the west. Arrive at 48 with decent gear and the southern half pays straight away; from 52 the whole loop runs without resting between pulls.
Herbalism is the point, and the headline herbs all sit in the Artisan band: Dreamfoil and Gromsblood want roughly 250 skill, Golden Sansam 260, Mountain Silversage 280 and Plaguebloom 285. Come in at 250 and the zone carries you to the 300 cap, with Arthas' Tears, Sungrass and Purple Lotus filling the gaps. Skinning pairs well, since the bears and wolves between the nodes give a mix of Thick and Rugged Leather once your knife is past 250. Mining is a side dish: Mithril, the odd Truesilver and a few Small Thorium Veins along the mountain walls.
Bring four big bags and a couple of stacks of food. There is no auction house in the zone: Emerald Sanctuary in the south is neutral ground with a flight path, the Alliance have Talonbranch Glade in the north-east, the Horde have Bloodvenom Post on the river in the west, and the herbs travel to a city on the flight home.
The route

The loop runs clockwise: north along the western side of the valley, back south along the eastern side. One lap is long enough that the Dreamfoil around the sanctuary has usually respawned when you return.
- Emerald Sanctuary. Start at the sanctuary on the southern road. Clear the Dreamfoil and Sungrass in the clearing around it, check the corrupted plants by the roadside if you carry a Cenarion Plant Salve, and note the flight master, because every lap ends here.
- Jadefire Glen. Cross the road westward into the satyr hollow in the south-west corner. The Jadefire satyrs stand in loose groups around their green fires; pull them one at a time to the tree line, pick the Gromsblood on the scorched patches between the camps, and leave by the northern edge of the glen.
- The western trail and the river. Follow the trail north with the mountains on your left until the Bloodvenom River cuts across your path. Angerclaw bears and Felpaw wolves wander the meadows between the trail and the water, and all of them skin. Stay out of the green water: the oozes are slow kills with nothing to skin. Horde can step over to Bloodvenom Post here to empty their bags.
- Ruins of Constellas. North of the river the broken satyr ruins fill the western shelf. This is the densest Gromsblood in the zone, with Dreamfoil between the fallen columns and Felcloth from every satyr. Work the ruins in a figure of eight and do not drift north-west toward Jaedenar; a herbalist has no business inside.
- Shatter Scar rim. Head east to the lip of the craters in the centre of the zone and walk the western rim northward. Dreamfoil, Gromsblood and the first Plaguebloom grow along the edge, while the infernals and entropic beasts stay down in the craters, and so should your distance from them.
- Timbermaw Hold entrance. Keep north along the western shoulder of the main road until it ends at the furbolg tunnel in the mountains. Plaguebloom and Mountain Silversage grow on the slopes beside the road. The Timbermaw guards attack anyone they do not yet trust, so stay outside the tunnel until you have earned some standing; the Deadwood furbolgs of Felpaw Village to the east drop the feathers that earn it.
- Irontree Woods. Swing south-east into the stand of corrupted trees. The walking treants hit hard and give nothing to skin, so pull the bears and Ironbeak owls around them instead and pick the Plaguebloom along the tree line. Alliance can swing east to Talonbranch Glade to sell.
- The eastern road home. Turn south and walk the clearings on the eastern side of the main road all the way back. This side is bears, wolves and respawned Dreamfoil with little else, so it is the resting leg of the lap. Pass the craters on your right, skirt the Deadwood furbolg village in the south-east, and finish at the sanctuary.
What you get
| Source | Drops and nodes | Why it sells |
|---|---|---|
| Roadside and clearings across the zone | Dreamfoil, Sungrass, Arthas' Tears, Purple Lotus | Dreamfoil is the main mana-potion herb and goes into several raid elixirs; raiders buy it in bulk every week |
| Scorched ground at Jadefire Glen and the Ruins of Constellas | Gromsblood, some Dreamfoil | Gromsblood is the strength-elixir herb and is common in only a few zones, so the price holds |
| Northern slopes, Irontree Woods, the Timbermaw road | Plaguebloom, Mountain Silversage, Golden Sansam | Plaguebloom and Silversage make the agility elixir; Golden Sansam goes into the big healing potion |
| Jadefire satyrs (50–55) | Felcloth, Runecloth, Demonic Runes, green world drops | Felcloth feeds tailors making Mooncloth and the large bags; the runes sell to casters |
| Angerclaw bears and Felpaw wolves (48–54) | Thick and Rugged Leather, meat, grey claws and fangs | Rugged Leather is the level-60 crafting leather, and the greys pay for repairs |
| Corrupted plants by the road | Whipper Root Tubers, Night Dragon's Breath, the Songflower buff | Free healing items and a solid buff for yourself, not for sale |
Gold per hour
Be honest with the numbers. Picking herbs alone at 50 to 53, with Herbalism high enough for Plaguebloom, roughly 15 to 30 gold an hour is a normal lap on a populated realm, most of it Dreamfoil and Gromsblood. Add skinning and the two satyr camps and roughly 25 to 45 gold an hour is realistic, with Felcloth as the swing item.
What moves the figure most is company: Felwood is a popular levelling stop and a well-known herb zone, and a second herbalist on the same lap halves your nodes, so odd hours pay better than evenings. Dreamfoil prices swing with raid progression and sag on realms crowded with alchemists. Your own skill matters too, because walking past Plaguebloom you cannot pick is the biggest leak in the loop, and every flight to the city is ten minutes of no picking.
Tips
- Loop, don't zigzag: herb spawns are slow to return, and a full lap keeps every node fresh instead of sending you back over picked ground.
- Keep a few Cenarion Plant Salves in the bag. The corrupted plants along the road cleanse into Whipper Root Tubers for free healing and the Songflower buff, which makes the satyr camps easier.
- Skin other players' leftovers. Plenty of characters quest through Felwood without a skinning knife, and their bears are yours once they walk away.
- Pull satyrs from the edge of a camp and watch for the stealthed ones; two at once is fine, four is a corpse run.
- Treat the craters, Jaedenar and both furbolg villages as walls: everything inside is slow, elite or both, and grows nothing you cannot pick elsewhere on the lap.
- Black Lotus does not grow in Felwood, whatever the rumours say, so do not waste a lap looking for it.
Running it with ForeverBot
The lap fits the Farming section as written. Walk it once with Record loop to lay down the waypoints, then fill the Targets list with Angerclaw bears, Felpaw wolves, Ironbeak owls and Jadefire satyrs, and leave treants, oozes, furbolgs and anything in the craters off it so the bot never picks a fight it should not. Turn on Auto loot, Sell gray items and Go to a vendor when bags are full, and keep Repair at vendors and Buy food and water ticked so a long evening does not end with a broken weapon. The status panel in the same tab counts Kills, Gold and Gold/hour as you go, which is the honest number to hold against the estimates above.
The herbs live under Professions, where the Herbalism bar shows how far you are from the next band, Skip nodes above your skill stops the bot from trying Plaguebloom at 260, and Remember nodes keeps the Gromsblood spots in the ruins in the loop for the next lap. In Settings, set the Navigator's Route mode to safest so the arrow walks around Jaedenar and the craters rather than through them, give the Arrival radius a little slack for the crater rim, and tick Pick flight destination for trips to the city. The Eat below HP and Drink below mana sliders in the Leveling section's Combat and rest group apply to farming too; a 48 pulling satyrs wants higher thresholds than a 54 picking flowers. Plans and the one-month option are on the pricing page.
FAQ
What Herbalism skill do I need for Felwood?
Dreamfoil and Gromsblood need roughly 250, Golden Sansam 260, Mountain Silversage 280 and Plaguebloom 285, so 250 covers most of the loop and 285 covers all of it. Arthas' Tears and Sungrass along the road carry you through the gap, and the zone takes you to the 300 cap.
Is Felwood or Eastern Plaguelands better for Plaguebloom?
Eastern Plaguelands has far more Plaguebloom, but it is a 53 to 60 zone with undead on every road and a rough time at 50. Felwood gives you Gromsblood and Dreamfoil as the main crop with Plaguebloom as a northern bonus; once you are 55 or so, the Eastern Plaguelands Plaguebloom route is the step up.
Where do I go after Felwood?
Through the Timbermaw tunnel. Once the furbolgs let you pass, Winterspring on the far side is a 55 to 60 zone with Icecap, Mountain Silversage and the occasional Black Lotus, and the Winterspring farming route starts right where this loop ends.
